Add, import, and export customers

Your customer list in Moshee is your CRM, with a record for every customer you have. Most CRMs start as a blank list that you fill in and keep up to date by hand. Moshee fills yours from your chats: everyone who messages you on a connected channel gets a record, and the record updates as the conversation goes on.

To add customers who haven't messaged you, such as walk-ins or buyers in an old spreadsheet, add them by hand or import a file. Then every customer is in one place.

On the Customers page, tap Import / Export on the web, or the arrows button beside the filter on a phone. The menu has Add customer, Import customers, Export view as CSV, and View past imports.

Add one customer

Add customer asks for a name, phone, email, and a note on what Moshee should know about them, plus any custom columns you use. Moshee checks the phone number as you type and tells you if another customer already has it, or if it can't receive WhatsApp.

Import a file or a Google Sheet

Import customers walks you through four steps, then Start import.

  • Upload file. Choose a CSV file up to 50 MB, or on the web, a tab in a Google Sheet. The first row must be column names, and each row needs a phone number or an email so Moshee can match it to a customer.
  • Map columns. Moshee matches each column in your file to a customer field and marks the ones it suggested. Change any match, create a new column, or skip a column.
  • Review values. Fix or skip values that won't import as they are, and set how dates and numbers in your file should be read.
  • Preview import. See what will be written before anything changes. Turn on Update customers you added to update customers you added or imported before with the file's values. Leave it off to skip them.

Once an import starts, you can close the page and it keeps running. If some rows fail, download them, fix the flagged column in your spreadsheet, and import them again. View past imports lists every import, where you can pick up a draft you didn't finish.

Moshee reads a Google Sheet once, when you import it. Later edits in the sheet won't reach your customer list, so import it again from past imports when it changes. Customers who came from a chat are never changed by an import.

Export your customers

Export view as CSV downloads the customers you are looking at, with that view's filters, sort, and visible columns. Filter the list first to export only some customers.

Delete customers

Select customers, then Delete. Deleted customers are hidden from your customer list. Only customers you added or imported can be deleted. Customers who came from a conversation stay in your list, and their chats stay in your inbox.

Adding, importing, exporting, and deleting customers are for admins only.
