What Meta charges for WhatsApp
Your Moshee plan and your WhatsApp messages are two separate bills. Moshee bills you for your plan. Meta bills you for the messages, charged to the card on your Meta Business account. You pay Meta directly and Moshee doesn't add a markup.
What changes on 1 October 2026
Until now, answering a customer who messaged you first was free for 24 hours. From 1 October 2026, Meta charges for those replies per message. Each of your numbers gets an allowance first.
- 1,000 free replies per number, per month. The count resets on the first of each month and nothing carries over.
- From the 1,001st, Meta charges per message at the utility rate for your customer's market. There's no volume discount.
- Templates you start yourself (reminders, follow-ups, WhatsApp campaign sends) are charged from the first send, with no allowance.
- Incoming messages are always free. You're only charged for what you send.
The payment method isn't optional
Without a payment method in Billing Hub, Meta delivers your first 1,000 replies that month, then stops. It doesn't queue them and it doesn't tell your customer. From their side, your shop simply goes quiet mid-conversation. Check every account you manage, since the payment method sits on the business account rather than on your login.
Replies you type in the app stay free
If your number runs on Coexistence, meaning it works in the WhatsApp Business app and in Moshee at the same time, billing follows how each message is sent. Messages you type in the app on your phone are free. Messages sent through the API, including the ones you send from your Moshee inbox, count against your 1,000.
Who this doesn't affect
- Personal WhatsApp, and the WhatsApp Business app used on its own without any API connection. This change applies to the WhatsApp Business Platform, which is what Moshee connects to.
- Chats that start from a click-to-WhatsApp ad or a Facebook Page button. Those still give you 72 free hours, so answering quickly is worth more now.
- Your Carousell chats. Carousell has no per-message transport fee.
Keeping the bill down
- Fewer, fuller replies. One complete message beats three fragments. It reads better and costs less, and we're working on cutting the number of messages Moshee sends to say the same thing.
- Answer ad chats fast, while the 72 free hours are open.
- Keep campaign audiences tight. Templates are charged from the first send, so a smaller, better-targeted list costs less and performs better.
For your Moshee plan and credits, see plans and billing. Meta publishes its per-market rates on its own pricing page and can change them.
